Occurring naturally in monsoon
forest areas and creeklines of the
Top End, this highly ornamental
palm is best suited to tropical
regions although it can also be
successfully grown in the warm
regions of the subtropics. It is
a tall, fan-leaved palm with a
crown of bright, shiny green,
deeply divided and prominently
folded leaves that have a thin
texture. It prefers protection
from full-sun during its early
years and needs to be kept well
watered during dry periods.
It also makes an excellent
container specimen for patios
and verandas. It deserves to
be more widely grown as it is
indeed a showy specimen.
